i was having a garage sale today. WAS. it's been pouring all day. so we decided to have a little city adventure. first, kate had an audition to be on girl scout cookie boxes. i figure she's got a shot because they've got to have at least one asian, right??
so first, she has to get her picture taken. the photog has her hold up a sign with her name and line number on it. she says 'i feel like i'm going to jail'. he takes one shot, then she turns sideways so he can get the profile. he laughs and says 'no, no', then has her put the sign down so he can do a smiley shot. well, that's what the other kids did anyway.

kate gives him one smiley shot, then starts posing like it's a cover girl photo shoot. she's giving him the over the shoulder, she puts her hand over her mouth and says "oh!" in sort of a naughty-girl way (yes, i realize this is too old for her), until he's taken about a dozen pictures and is laughing his head off. so is she.
next she moves to the interview portion. photog came over to me to tell me and says "kate is awesome! i love her personality! what a character!" he didn't talk to any other moms.
if she doesn't get this job, i may have to give up!!
next up on 'city day' was a visit to world famous HOT DOUG'S. it really is world famous. i've seen it featured on the food network and the travel channel. www.foodinmouth.com/restaurant-reviews/2008/07/hot-dougs.html. it's rated by zagats and guyot and everybody.
it's a complete dump. and i mean that in the best possible way. doug works the counter and owns the restaurant. it's only open from like 11 to 3 monday to saturday. word on the street is that doug closes 4th of july week so the tourists don't eat there. they have hot dogs and sausages and fries. that's it. there was a line out the door, in the rain, and it was 20 minutes before we even got to stand in line inside. place seats about 50 people.
i had the BLT. that's a bacon sausage with avocado mayo, lettuce, and tomato. it was ridiculously better than it sounds. paul had some sort of lamb sausage. kate had 2 hotdogs. the fries (on the weekend) are cooked in duck fat. sounds gross. tastes like heaven. the fries are handcut and salty and fabulous.
it was awesome and everyone who comes for a future visit will be dragged here. rox, your main squeeze would LOVELOVELOVE it.

thank goodness you moved the pics around. that was totally annoying me.
it makes me want to throw the computer out the window to watch it smash on the patio below.
i also can't figure out how to put gridlines on my "excel" spreadsheets.
I want to try that hotdog place ASAP. I've totally watched the shows you mentioned.
So. Which box do you hope Kate is featured on? I'm rooting for Peanut Butter Patties.
thin mints all the way. i didn't even know they had another flavor.
